What Bad Apples?

If your children are anything like mine, you have about 2 of these left over at the end of almost every day.

And, of course, they are no longer suitable for eating after they've had bites taken out of them (my girls are so picky - wonder where they get that from).   So, instead of composting them or throwing them out (I hate waste),  I save them and when I've saved enough...  It's applesauce time!

Step 1:  Peel, core and chop apples

Step 2:  Place in steamer and sprinkle with cinnamon,
Cover and let steam for 10-15 minutes until fork tender.
(Cinnamon is optional.  Sugar can be added if you desire)

Step  3:  Set aside to cool for a few minutes.
Add apples to food processor with about 1T of the steaming water

For chunky enthusiasts:  Pulse until desired consistency is reached.
Oh So Smooth: Turn it on and let it go for about a minute
(you could do this by hand, but I'm way too lazy for that)

Let chill completely and serve

mmmmm..... applesauce and homemade bread

Secretly gloat that you have gotten them to eat the apples after all

What do you do to get your kids to eat foods they don't want to?  What do you do to minimize waste in your house?
